I bet you have tried planning your vacation to Europe and became totally overwhelmed? I totally get it. There are so many different options out there, so many different hotels in so many different cities you have never even heard of. What parts of town are safe to stay in? Where is the best place to grab a bite to eat that won’t break the bank? How can you logistically fit in everything you want to do on your trip? There is so much information out there on the internet, and you probably have no idea what sites actually have valid, up to date information. You have every right to be overwhelmed. But that’s where I come in.

Hi, my name is Deborah Riordan and I am the owner of Assisted Travel.

Assisted Travel helps clients dream, plan and book their ideal vacations. I am the one that takes that overwhelm off of your shoulders and lets you relax while I plan your vacation exactly the way YOU want it to be. I take the time to get to know you- what you want, what you need, what you don’t want, and maybe even make you realize some things you didn’t even know you wanted.

My agency specializes in European vacations- I know the information you haven’t learned just yet. Looking for an authentic Italian countryside villa for your family reunion? I can help with that. Looking for that perfect, romantic Greek Island cruise for your soon to be fiancé? I can help with that. Looking for the best place to take your children to where they won’t be bored and bugging you the whole time? Yes, I can help with that too. No matter what your European vacation dreams are, I am here to create exactly what you want…and within the budget that you want.

All of the trips I plan are “made to order.” You will get a fully individualized experience from start to finish. And you won’t have to lift a finger. You can leave that overwhelm and stress at the door and actually ENJOY a vacation for once. No need to worry about anything, I’ve got your back the whole way- from our initial “get to know you” phone call to following up with you after you get home. If you have questions or need anything at any point on your vacation, I am only a phone call or an email away. Good luck trying to get that with an online booking engine!

I have compiled numerous certifications along the way that show my expertise, like becoming an ASTA Verified Travel Advisor, a Travel Institute Certified Travel Associate, and a Certified Accessible Travel Specialist (for those that may need a little extra care). I am a member of the International Air Transport Association, the Cruise Line International Association, the Travel Leader’s Network and the American Society of Travel Agents. But what do those certifications and memberships mean to you? They are essentially the Harvard Law Degree of Travel Agents…I have been trained, retrained and retrained again to make sure I know exactly what I am doing and that I am doing what is best for my clients- YOU. I have created amazing vacations for hundreds of clients, some of which may have actually referred you to me in the first place.

But my life can’t be all work and no play, right? You’re right, it’s not. When I am not planning dream vacations for my clients, you can most likely find me at the ballpark (not in 2020 though, understandably). I am a die-hard Washington Nationals baseball fan, even before they won the World Series. My husband and I are season ticket holders and most of our summer nights are spent cheering on our favorite team. I also enjoy live music and cooking. I’m a big fan of experimenting with new cooking styles and cultures to spice up the daily routine. I am currently on a Thai food kick and couldn’t be happier. I also try to squeeze in time to work out and stay healthy, but there just isn’t enough time in the day for everything, right? LOL.

More About Me

Background

I was born and raised in Southern Maryland, in small town called Dunkirk. Growing up, I was very into sports- I played everything I could- soccer, softball, basketball…I even ran indoor track for a season. My life changed dramatically when I was in college in South Carolina. They say all things happen for a reason and I am a firm believer in that. I wouldn’t be where I am today without having lived the life I did. What brought you to where you are now? Would you go back and change anything if you could?

My Favorite Destination

Hands down, Poland has been my most favorite destination so far. I know, I was a little shocked by that as well. We took my mother there for her 60th birthday present (her family is from Poland) and from the second our super small plane touched down in the super small airport, I knew this place would be very different from any other place I had visited previously. And I was right. It was more than I ever expected it to be. Interested in finding out why? Send me a message and I’ll tell you (it’s waaaayyy too much to type here).

My Travel Bucket List

I feel like my bucket list changes with the season. There are always new reasons for me to want to visit a new location. But I always end up coming back to the same three destinations time after time. The top three locations I’d like to visit are Argentina, Russia and Morocco (very different, I know). If you have learned anything about me so far, it’s that one of my main reasons for traveling is for food. I feel like these three locations would have ah-mazing food options! Have you been to any of these places? Any tips for me?
