Don’t do this…

I am not a huge fan of the word “don’t” but in this situation, it’s the best word for the job. There are some things you need to keep in mind while traveling to Europe. Here are a couple of the top recommendations I give for things NOT to do on your trip.

Walking is huge in Europe. Like, really huge. I wish it was as prevalent here as it is there. That being said, don’t go to Europe without a good pair of walking shoes. You might need to forgo fashion on some days for the sake of your feet! You’ll thank me later, I promise. Something like this for ladies is ideal.

Even thought walking is a major form of transportation, sometimes you are going to need to get somewhere faster. Do NOT take a cab. I'll say it again- Do NOT take a cab. Most major European cities have amazing public transportation systems. So save some time and money, and take the bus or train to get where you need to go.

Don’t skimp on your restaurant research (this is also where I will come in very handy). The places you will tend to find the best food and best deals is going to be a locally owned restaurant. Every city has hot spots for local foods- you just need to know where to look.

*Insider tip- ask a local for a recommendation*

Don’t waste your money. Almost all places in Europe take Visa and/or MasterCard. That being said, you should always carry a little local cash on you just in case. Just don’t carry too much- you’ll make yourself a target for pick-pocketing. Make sure your credit card does not charge foreign transaction fees before using it. Also check your cell phone plan to see how to minimize extra charges.

Don’t forget to smile. Don’t let stress or worry consume you. There is a chance that something will not go as planned, but that’s okay. You are on vacation and you should be having a good time. Take a deep breath and relax. And call me if you need to- that is one of the benefits of working with a travel agent. :)

It’s possible that something will go wrong on your vacation. It’s not as much about what happens, but more about how we react to what happens.

(And, it's always good to know, I will have your back every step of the way)

Send me an email when you're ready to start planning your next vacation. I look forward to hearing from you.
