How Many Countries?

The age old question. Should I focus my trip on one country in Europe or should I try and cram as many countries in as I possibly can?

As I mentioned in a previous note, a general rule of thumb is minimum 3-4 days in bigger cities and 1-3 days in smaller cities. But again, this depends on what your travel time frame is. But it also depends on what you want to accomplish on your trip. Do you want to get a taste for each location or do you really want to "get to know" a country? If you answered the latter, then I honestly think spending 10-14 days in one country would be best. When I travel, I like to first get a taste of the country and then if we "vibe," I can plan a longer trip in the future to really get to know it. I can't imagine going all in on a 2 week vacation and finding out that you hate the country you chose.

So let's take this one step further. If you're like me and you want to "try out" a country first but have a decent amount of time planned for your vacation, then yes- multiple countries is definitely doable. That being said, it makes sense logistically to choose countries that are near each other. You'd be surprised how many requests I get that want to visit random combinations of countries- like Germany, Italy and Iceland or Spain, Greece and Norway. I'm actually shocked at how often it happens. Either way, that's why you chose me to help you plan your trip. I will help you plan out your vacation in terms that make the most sense- geographically, logistically, monetarily and emotionally.

One other thing you want to keep in mind when deciding how many countries you want to visit on your trip is your activity level. Do you prefer to take things at a slower pace or are you someone who likes to have every hour of every day planned out? Or are you somewhere in between? I, personally, am a combination of those two personalities when I travel. If I am taking a 5 day trip, I tend to plan a full day of activities on 3 of those days and keep the other 2 to kinda go with the flow. Often it's those off days that I find myself doing things that I learn about while I am in location and those days end up being the most fun!

No matter if you end up choosing to tackle one country or multiple, you want to make sure that your trip makes sense for what you want it to be. That’s where I come in.
