European Packing Essentials

What are some things you actually need for your trip to Europe? No, you don’t need that third yellow shirt nor those pants that you might want to wear if you went to that place that you might go to. Pull back the reigns and pack smarter.

First and foremost, you need to have GREAT luggage. Whether you are using rolling luggage or a travel backpack, either one is fine- just make sure it is reliable. Both types have their pros and cons and I could spend an entire email just discussing those, but I won’t…this time.

Packing cubes. I was against them for the longest time. I didn’t understand what benefit they gave more. Now, I do. They are space saving and organizational. Make sure to get the compression ones though…big difference than standard packing cubes.

Coordinated clothing. This may seem like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised. You definitely don’t want to over pack, but I get it- you want choices each day. Bring clothes that could be interchanged throughout outfits and spice them up with different accessories (scarves, sunglasses, hats, etc).

A day bag. This is a must have. Chances are you will be out and about all day and the last thing you will want to do is walk all the way back to your hotel to get something. Your day bag can carry all of the essential things you’ll need for the day- your camera, a collapsible umbrella, some snacks, a reusable water bottle, etc.

Small electronics must haves. European plugs are different than plugs in the USA. A plug adapter (or a few) is a must. A portable phone charger will also come in handy as your cell phone battery may die while you’re out exploring. E-readers/tablets and headphones are also great for plane rides.
