Are the top European attractions worth it?

There are a lot of different things you can see when you travel to Europe, but are they all worth it? Some yes, some no in my opinion. Here are the top 10 tourist attractions in Europe and my take on if they are worth it or not.

The Colosseum, Rome Italy

Immerse yourself and imagine living in Roman Times, watching a gladiator battle at what was once the largest amphitheater in the world.

Worth it? Yes- especially the underground tour

The Acropolis, Athens Greece

The hill that houses numerous monuments constructed in the 5th century, including the Temple of Athena and the Parthenon, will take you back in time and make you remember all of that Greek Mythology you learned in grade school.

Worth it? Yes- especially at night to see it all lit up

The Canals, Venice Italy

Venice has more than 150 waterways and 400 bridges, including the famous 2 mile long Grand Canal which will take you by some of Venice's oldest buildings and architecture.

Worth it? Cool story to tell, but not worth it in my opinion

Old Town, Prague Czech Republic

Prague is an incredibly popular city and is often flooded with tourists. That being said, if you can get by the mass amount of people, it really is an amazing city. The architecture, especially the Prague Castle, The Charles Bridge and the Astronomical Clock are must sees.

Worth it? Yes. Visit the Charles Bridge at sunrise.

Eiffel Tower, Paris France

The epitome of ingenuity and grace in a structure. Originally built as an entrance to the World's Fair in 1889, this structure has withstood the test of time. Feel free to take the lift to the observation deck at the top, but make sure to buy tickets in advance to avoid long waits.

Worth it? No, at least not up close. Admire the tower from afar for an experience with less crowds.

Neuschwanstein Castle, Bavaria Germany

This castle inspired Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle. Nestled in the woods of South Bavaria, this castle is a fairy tale dream come true. Spend the day riding bikes or eating lunch by the lake after exploring this half-finished castle.

Worth it? Yes. Take a organized tour that includes the afternoon bike ride- you won't be disappointed.

Tower Bridge, London England

Not to be confused with the London Bridge, the drawbridge across the River Thames has come to be an iconic landmark in London. Walk across the high level walkway and take in the panoramic view of the city.

Worth it? Yes. It is an engineering marvel.

La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona Spain

This basilica is still under construction and has been since 1882. It is expected to be completed in 2026. After completion, this massive, fascinating church will have 18 spires (10 more than it currently has).

Worth it? Yes. The detail is absolutely stunning.

Cliffs of Moher, County Clare Ireland

Spanning for almost 9 miles, The Cliffs of Moher are a simply awe-inspiring site. They have been the subject of many folk stories and have been in numerous films throughout the years.

Worth it? Yes. 100% Yes.

Leaning Tower of Pisa, Pisa Italy

People travel from all over the world to snap pictures of themselves in front of the tower. The tower, which stands about 180 feet tall, has a slight lean to it due to soft ground during construction.

Worth it? Yes if you are in the area but I wouldn't travel a far distance just for it.
